Adult Christian Education

Education for Ministry (EfM): Holy Redeemer began to participate in the Education for Ministry when our congregation hosted St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church for a time while their church building was undergoing construction.  Holy Redeemer and St. Andrew’s continue to participate together and we are now joined by parishioners from Church of the Ascension as well. This four year program is designed to support and encourage lay participation in the Episcopal Church. Education for Ministry (EfM) is an international program of lay theological education established in 1975 by Sewanee, the University of the South. Participants in the EfM program study the breadth of the Christian tradition from the earliest period to the present. Students learn the disciplines of biblical critical interpretation (exegesis), systematic theology, church history, ethics, liturgics, and ascetic theology.
